In-Home Therapy

  • Setting: In-home ABA therapy is conducted within the individual's own home environment, providing a familiar and comfortable setting for therapy sessions. Center-based ABA therapy takes place in a clinical or specialized center setting designed specifically for therapy sessions.

Accessibility and Convenience: In-home ABA therapy eliminates the need for families to travel to a center for therapy sessions, making it more convenient for those with transportation challenges or busy schedules. Center-based ABA therapy requires families to commute to the therapy center, which may involve additional time and logistical planning.

Individualization: In-home ABA therapy allows therapists to work directly within the individual's home environment, enabling them to address specific challenges and behaviors that may arise in that setting. Center-based ABA therapy may offer a more structured and controlled environment, but it may be less individualized to the unique needs and circumstances of each family.

Parental Involvement: In-home ABA therapy often encourages greater parental involvement, as caregivers are present during sessions and can learn techniques to support their child's progress in their everyday routines. Center-based ABA therapy may have less direct involvement from parents during sessions, although some centers may offer parent training sessions or involvement opportunities.

Social Interaction Opportunities: In-home ABA therapy may focus more on one-on-one interaction between the therapist and the individual, potentially limiting social interaction opportunities with peers. Center-based ABA therapy often provides opportunities for social interaction with peers who are also receiving therapy, facilitating social skill development in a group setting.
